NOSTALGIA @ JELUTONG CAMPSITE
Nostalgia @ Jelutong is a project located in Pulau Ubin's Jelutong Campsite. The Jelutong Campsite is a popular campsite often visited by students attending camps such as the Outward Bound Singapore camp. As there are many students who often visit the campsite to have their camps there, I decided to design a museum there with the vision of being able to infuse culture and nature together to showcase the history of Pulau Ubin and hopefully allow for a more constant flow of visitors. This idea of a museum in an urban setting was inspired by Tadao Ando's Chichu Art Museum, which is an art museum with a beautiful view and a home to a garden.

There are 3 different programmes that would be happening on Jelutong Campsite. Firstly, would be the cultural museum for users to look and reflect upon the history and culture of Pulau Ubin. Another design I have decided to add into the Jelutong Campsite would be rest areas in the form of tree houses. To continue the urban element of the campsite, the tree houses would serve as an elevated area to look at the campsite, rest and also look towards the sea that is near the Jelutong Campsite. The last programme happening in the campsite would be the actual camps as I did want to get rid of the current mood and form of recreation of existing users today. I hope that by adding the cultural museum to the campsite to remind users of the culture of Pulau Ubin would make the campsite more meaningful as it already is to the hearts of campers today.
